Some Tips to extend the laptop battery life.

 1.Do not use the CD drive frequently when the Laptop is in battery power.
 2.It is better to optimize the power option through the control panel option. Select maximum battery for maximum effect.
 3.It is very important to reduce the programs running in the back ground when the Laptop is in battery power as they run at boot up and increase the CPU load and battery consumption.
 4.De-fragmentation of the hard drive regularly is very helpful in making it faster. This increases the efficiency of the hard drive and decreases the power consumption.
 5.Do not keep the charged battery for long time without using it. If once charged, it should be used at least once every two to three weeks.
 6.Use the Dim mode in its lowest range to reduce the brightness of the screen. This considerably reduces the power consumption. If the CPU Fan control is available, reduce it to minimum.
 7.The heat vent is placed on the sides and back side of the laptop. So it is very important to place the Laptop in a well ventilated place during use. As a result, Laptop runs smoothly.
 8.Clean the air vents with a cloth or keyboard cleaner.
 9.Deactivate the programmes that are running automatically, when the Laptop is running on battery.
 10.It is better to reduce the number of external devices connected to the battery when using in battery power. For example, USB devices, WiFi etc. These devices are powered by the Laptop and use more battery power.
 11.Avoid playing games and playing a DVD in battery power.
 12.Increasing the RAM of the Laptop by adding an additional RAM is one of the very useful things. It allows the laptop to process more and fast rather than relying on virtual memory. Virtual memory increases the hard drive use and increases the power consumption. But the use of additional RAM will increases the power consumption slightly, so use only if memory intensive programmes are used.
 13.Do not store much data especially Audio and Video files in the Desktop since it is running in C drive. Save data in other drives.
 14.Reduce the use of Graphic in the Laptop while running in battery. Graphic and Video cards use much power similar to the Hard drive.
 15.Clean the drives to remove unnecessary files using the Disk cleaner option in the Performance and Maintenance of the Control panel.
 16.Always keep the battery contacts clean. Inspect the battery atleast once in a month. If the contacts are dirty, clean it with sand paper or file.
 17.Hibernate the Laptop when not in use so that, it can be run very quickly and avoids the boot up.
 18.Do only one thing at a time when the Laptop is running in battery. For example avoid combining the job of Typing and browsing. Stop all other programmes and do only one at a time.
 19.Stop the auto save option of Word and Excel while running the Laptop in battery. Since the auto save is working at regular intervals, it increases the hard drive activity and increases the power consumption.
 20.Another important point to be remembered is that we have to choose best Laptops with good features to increase the laptop battery life time.
 21.Switch off the wireless card if you are not interested to access your network or internet.
 22.Reduce the volume level or mute it.
 23.Disabling the Bluetooth option helps in getting more life to our laptop battery.

Forgot lock pattern on android? Here’s a way to reset it.

• Enter wrong pattern 5 times and wait for 30 seconds.
• Select “Forgot pattern” and enter your gmail account username and password.

Fix corrupted memory card­

Problem1Memory card can be read but not accessed

When you take out a memory card during data transfer, the file structure can get scrambled and ultimately,However, the actual data is still present in it. This can be fixed by the doing the following:

Step 1 – Plug in the memory card via an adapter, card reader or any way you can to your computer.

Step 2 – Check if the memory card shows up in File Explorer, it most probably won’t be accessible but will have the right file system and everything. Note the drive letter path.

Step 3 – Open command prompt, preferably as Administrator and typed “chkdsk x: /r” without the quotes. Here, X is the drive letter of your memory card.

Step 4 – Let the process complete. If it asks to “convert lost chains tofiles”, type “y” for yes.

Step 5 - Done

Problem2–Memory card shows invalid file system (RAW)­
A corrupted memory card can also lose its file system and cannot be used because it’s not in a file system that Windows recognizes. The simplest solution for this memory card corrupted problem is a format. Here’s how you go about it:

Step 1 – Connect your memory card to PC via adapter/card reader.

Step 2 – Locate the removable storage media in file explorer, right click it and click “Format”.

Step 3 – Set the file system to “FAT”, not FAT32, NTFS, exFAT or anything else as most portable devices are compatible only with the FAT file system. Leave the allocation unit size as it is and uncheck “Quick format”.

Step 4 – Click format, let it finish and your memory card should be good as new!

Or open command prompt,and type format X: Where X is the drive letter.

Or goto disc management,locate the memory card and format it.

Problem 3 Memory card cannot be read by PC­
Even a problem like this one can be fixed quite easily by simply downloading updated drivers from your PC manufacturer. Always make sure you have the latest drivers and updates.

There could be another problem as well. Newer cards are SDHC (high capacity) and are not readable on regular SD card readers. Make sure to get a SDHC card reader and updated drivers for it installed in your PC if you want to access the memory card on your PC. It’s the same case withthe really high capacity SDXC (Extracapacity) cards.

If none of these are the cases, and even after the obligatory plugging in all ports doesn’t work, then do the following:

Step 1 – Insert the memory card into the card reader/adapter and plug it in to your PC.

Step 2 – Go to Device Manager via Control Panel and look for any devices that show up with a yellow exclamation mark (!).

Step 3 (a) – Right click the faulty device and try to automatically update drivers. If you are unable to, uninstall it, remove your device and restart computer. Alternatively, you could also right click and click “Scan for hardware changes” once it’s uninstalled.

Step 3 (b) – If your device still doesn’t show up, go to the “View” tab and click “Show hidden devices”. Now you might be able to see more faulty or greyed out devices. Right click, uninstall them and restart your computer with the device unplugged.

Step 4 – Once it’s booted up, plug it in again and it should be recognized.
Also, make sure that the little lock on the side of your memory card is not engaged.
The above steps will most probably get your memory card fixed, unless it’s completely damaged. Finally, if nothing works, the only solution is to buy a new memory card. Although, it would be a good idea to try and recover your data using a tool like Recuva.
